Welcome to Amy

In December 2023, Amy BANIGO joined the NETWAT consortium.

Amy obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka in July 2015.
Then, she obtained her Master in Hydraulic and Civil Engineering, Grenoble INP - ENSEᶟ in September 2023.
She worked on several temporal datasets, including projects on climatology, flood propagation and mitigation, hydrological analysis, etc.
Amy carried out her final year project at the IGE in the Hydro - Meteorology, Climate, Interactions and Society (HMCIS) team where she studied the effect of dust on photovoltaic production in West Africa.
Previously, she had worked as engineer, physics teacher and banker.

Her doctoral thesis concerns the study of the water footprint of atmospheric dust cleaning for photovoltaic production in West Africa. She will develop a dust deposition model based on the work carried out during her research placement at the IGE, which will be adapted to local conditions. The output of this model will be used to determine the losses due to fouling, after which the water footprint can be defined on the basis of the amount of water withdrawn for cleaning compared with the amount available (the recharge rate and other water consumption requirements in the region, including agriculture, domestic consumption, industry, etc.).

Her thesis is co-supervised by Benoit HINGRAY, Louise CROCHEMORE at the IGE and Béatrice MARTICORENA at LISA.
