Welcome to Amélie

At the end of 2023, the NETWAT team has been strengthened by the arrival of Amélie Solbès as a doctoral student.

Amélie studied physics, first as a bachelor at the Technical University of Berlin, then as a master’s student at the University of Potsdam. During her studies, she specialised in atmospheric and climate physics. She also began her research training at the prestigious Alfred Wegener Institute, studying the influence of cloud and humidity profiles on radiation fluxes in the Arctic in winter.

She is now joining the NETWAT project to start her PhD on forecasting atmospheric variables for photovoltaic production in West Africa. To this end, she will be using numerical modelling of the atmosphere, data assimilation and/or artificial intelligence methods.

Amélie will carry out her doctoral research at the IGE and Steadysun.
